Some abandon, others are looking for the futur. This could be the meaning of this mock-up presented in the headquarters of ÖBB in Vienna. What do we see? A brand new design of the traditional bunk, with compartments of only four beds and with more private space. A column with a ladder and retractable steps, where there is lockers for luggage, as assumed on the third picture below. Each bed has its socket for PC / Smartphone and many notches to install its own things for the night. The novelty is that the half-doors allow to stand in a completely enclosed space, as shown on the third picture.

The ÖBB are determined to maintain the concept of night train, as do indeed also .... Russian Railways (see at this link, with the Moscow-Nice). This is proof that with a revival of the concept and marketing, it is possible to keep the night train services, even to develop this niche market that is no longer under of the public service for many years.
